| Uploading a cgi script to your virtual server is
straight forward. Login to your virtual server using FTP.
Once
logged in, go to the mainwebsite_cgi directory and upload your cgi
scripts. Make sure that your FTP client is set to ASCII mode
(ASCII for scripts, BINARY for pictures). |

What are
permissions and how do I set them?
To make a script work
then you must make the script executable, you do this by setting the
file permissions of the script. A cgi script should normally be
given the following permissions:-
755 owner=read/write/execute group=read/execute public=read/execute
To learn how to set
permissions using FTP then please visit our FTP guide.
You may also change
the file permissions using the built-in File Manager. You can access
the File Manager from your control panel.
Can you tell me the path to ...
?
Perl - /usr/bin/perl Perl 5.006 - /usr/bin/perl Sendmail -
/usr/sbin/sendmail Date program -
/bin/date public_html directory - /home/virtual/sitename.com/var/www/html cgi-bin
- /home/virtual/sitename.com/var/www/cgi-bin
What should the first line of
my script look like?
#!/usr/bin/perl
My cgi
script isn't working can you fix it for me?
Unfortunately we cannot provide support for scripts that do not
work. That said, we will (time permitting) always try to help where
we can.
Where can I download free CGI
scripts?
Good places for script help and collections are
located at: http://cgi.resourceindex.com/
and http://www.bignosebird.com.
